Ubisoft has announced that the new Assassin’s Creed Shadows x Attack on Titan quest will be available next week, coinciding with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As someone who has been eager to dive into this world on Nintendo hardware, this feels like the perfect way to begin that journey.
The quest begins when a mysterious encounter draws Naoe and Yasuke into a troubling investigation involving forbidden rituals and unusual transformations. Guided by a woman named Ada, whose clothing hints at origins far beyond their own, they travel into the Crystal Cave to rescue her friend from a secretive cult. Strange experiments unfold inside the cavern, and a monstrous threat emerges, challenging the pair in ways they have never faced before.
Players who have unlocked Yasuke as a playable character can access this quest for free by travelling north east of Yamashiro to find the quest giver.
Finishing the quest rewards players with exclusive items, including a new katana and several hidden chest collectibles throughout the cave. Additional in-store options allow players to personalise Naoe and Yasuke with Attack on Titan-themed packs. These include a titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke, a Mikasa inspired outfit for Naoe, themed weapons and a Survey Corps mount.
This update also brings a free story drop titled “A Puzzlement”, the third added to the game. It offers a lighter tone as Naoe and Yasuke teach each other new abilities. Naoe perfects her own dramatic version of Yasuke’s signature war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. As the name suggests, “A Puzzlement” introduces a new environmental puzzle that may offer answers players have been waiting for.
Led by Ubisoft Quebec, Assassin’s Creed Shadows sends players into a richly detailed vision of feudal Japan powered by the enhanced Anvil engine. The adventure features dual protagonists, allowing players to switch between Naoe, a stealth-focused shinobi Assassin, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai. Their contrasting strengths and shared journey set the stage for a new chapter in the long-running series.
