Call of Duty Deploys on Switch 2 October 23rd

No line holds forever.

It has been 14 years since Call of Duty players last had boots on the ground on a Nintendo console, and now that wait is finally over. In a surprise announcement that arrived out of nowhere, Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will bring the Modern Warfare series to Nintendo players for the first time in more than a decade, with Infinity Ward partnering alongside Digital Legends to develop the game natively for Nintendo Switch 2. More details, including pre-orders, will be shared later this summer.

Modern Warfare 4 throws players into a global conflict sparked by a full-scale North Korean invasion of the Korean Peninsula, a war that threatens to push the world into chaos. Players will follow a young squad of South Korean soldiers struggling to survive on collapsing front lines, while Captain Price operates from the shadows on a personal mission of revenge against those responsible for the conflict. As Price’s off-the-books operation intersects with the larger invasion, the war spirals further beyond control.

The latest entry in the series takes Modern Warfare into darker territory, bringing several long-running storylines to an emotional and explosive turning point. The campaign will take players across multiple global hotspots, including trench warfare across Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, high-speed pursuits through Paris, SAS night raids in Mumbai, and large-scale urban assaults to reclaim occupied territory. Multiplayer focuses on grounded and precise combat, with fluid movement and greater player control shaping every encounter. Activision says the experience has been designed to reward accuracy, responsiveness, and player freedom while maintaining the series’ signature realism and intensity.

One of the major additions in Modern Warfare 4 is the new “Ballistic Authority” system. This technology overhaul aims to unify weapon handling, aiming precision, audio propagation, visibility, and combat feedback into what Activision describes as the most authentic Modern Warfare gunplay yet. Bloom has been removed from hipfire, recoil systems have been rebuilt to better reflect player input, and visibility improvements have been introduced to help players track enemies more naturally during combat. Movement has also been expanded with enhanced mantling, climbing, hanging, and jumping mechanics designed to create more opportunities for repositioning and vertical combat. According to Activision, the system is intended to balance grounded military realism with fluid and cinematic action, whether players prefer a slower tactical approach or a more aggressive playstyle.

DMZ also returns, placing players behind enemy lines as off-the-books operatives forced to make difficult decisions about objectives, extraction timing, and what resources are worth risking everything to secure.
