Civilization VII Update 1.4.1 Brings Hotseat Multiplayer and More
It is no secret that I’m a big fan of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. I’ve spent plenty of time covering the game on What’s it Like, and if there’s one feature that keeps popping up in the comments, it’s Hotseat Multiplayer. Whether it’s families wanting to play together or long-time fans reliving those classic couch multiplayer sessions, it’s easily been the most requested addition since launch.

The good news is that the wait is almost over. Update 1.4.1 arrives during the week of June 22, bringing Hotseat Multiplayer to Civilization VII as a free update for all players. Hotseat isn’t the only headline feature either, as update 1.4.1 also introduces a completely revamped Archipelago map with greater randomisation, alongside major overhauls to the Governments, Happiness, and Celebrations systems. As expected, the update also includes a range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
Launching alongside the free update is the first half of the paid Civilization VII: Brush & Blade Collection. Inspired by the history of Korea and Japan, the collection explores the balance between artistic achievement and legendary warfare. Part One includes a new Leader, two new Civilizations, additional Wonders to build and exclusive profile customisation rewards. For players who have been waiting for Hotseat Multiplayer, this looks set to be one of the most significant Civilization VII updates since release.
