Dispatch HR Violations Update Gives Switch Players New Censorship Options
When Dispatch launched on Nintendo Switch, it wasn’t the superhero workplace comedy many players expected. Instead, much of the conversation centred on its heavy censorship, with black bars covering even relatively mild scenes. The changes sparked widespread criticism from players, while questions lingered over whether the decision came from Nintendo’s content requirements or developer AdHoc Studio itself. Months later, AdHoc Studio has responded with a free update called HR Violations, giving players far more control over how the game handles censorship. While the update is available on Steam and PlayStation 5 as an optional setting, it’s the Switch version that sees the biggest change.
Players in Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe can now choose between Partial Coverage and Full Coverage. Partial Coverage restores much of the game’s original visual presentation, leaving only explicit nudity and audio censored, while Full Coverage keeps everything covered for those who prefer it. The update also introduces three censorship styles. The default Mosaic filter replaces black bars with pixelated effects, Chaotic mode covers scenes using random in-game objects such as jorts for a more comedic approach, while the original Blackout style remains available. Regional restrictions still apply. Players in Japan and several Asian territories remain limited to Full Coverage, while Japan also retains Blackout as its only censorship style.
The HR Violations update is available now as a free download from the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Once installed, all censorship options can be adjusted through General Settings > Filters.
