How to Add Water Sources in Pokémon Pokopia
Hey Ditto! Pokémon Pokopia has consumed all my spare time lately, and I’ve loved rebuilding Withered Wastelands and Bleak Beaches, but there are plenty of areas in the game that could do with some additional rivers and waterfalls. Unfortunately, Water Gun is not going to cut it. Thankfully, there is a way to create or remove water sources with a little help from some Pokémon friends. Now, you’re in a hurry, and I want to get back to playing, so no need for a long-winded intro, let’s find out how.
Please note, you will need to have upgraded some of your core abilities in the Rocky Ridges area for this quest to unlock, particularly unlocking the Rollout ability and 3 recipes from Greedant. Thank you to YouTube viewer Ren-sy6iq for adding this information!
First things first, you need to be in Bleak Beach to unlock this ability, and you must be on the main quest “Brighten Things Up.” I personally learned this ability after finishing the questline, but you do not have to wait that long. Simply keep completing Piplup’s requests to progress its mission. Eventually, Piplup will have a speech bubble that says “Let’s go together!” Selecting this will initiate the quest where you learn how to suck up water. Piplup will tell you it wants to show you something and will lead you to the start of the Bleak Beach area. Follow it there and talk to Piplup. It will explain that it would love a waterfall in a certain spot. Unfortunately, neither of you can create waterfalls yet, so Piplup gives you a Pokémon habitat plan for Marshy Tall Grass instead.
Thankfully, there is some muddy water just around the corner. Simply use Leafage to create four Grass Bundles right next to the muddy water to build the Marshy Tall Grass habitat. Now we simply have to wait. After a short while, the water will start to ripple, indicating that a Pokémon is nearby. A Wooper will pop out and introduce itself. Talk to Wooper a few times, and eventually it will display a speech bubble showing that it is hungry. Wooper is craving three tomatoes. If you already have them on you, great. If not, there is a row of tomatoes growing just around the corner. Grab three tomatoes and return to Wooper. After eating them, Wooper will teach you how to suck up water.
Wooper will then get you to test your new ability by jumping into the muddy water. Select your Water Gun and press R2 + Y at the same time to suck up water. Walk a few blocks to where Wooper is waiting and drop the water there. Talk to Wooper one last time to confirm the task is complete. You can now create your own water sources! But we aren’t done just yet. Next, head back to Piplup and suck up some water from the nearby pond. Climb a few blocks up to an area that looks pre-dug and dump the water into the pool. Make sure to fill all corners of the pool, then jump back down to turn in your quest with Piplup.
