We are up to the final mansion and we are in for a surprise as there’s more than one boss to contend with! The train boss sees a significant increase in difficulty from previous bosses, but once you get the mechanics down, it should be a rather manageable fight. No time for a long-winded intro, I hear a train coming!
E Gadd has found a way to pixellate you into the train enclosure and as soon as you materialize, you will see some train carriages in front of you. Look for the smoke in the air and use the dark light to reveal the train engine. This will spring a trap and summon Big Boo… not the Boo we are looking for, but one that must be dealt with regardless. Once he has merged with the other boos, he will start to ground pound. Avoid his attacks and on his 3rd attack, he will be stunned. Vacuum his tongue like you do with regular Boo’s and aim him towards the front of the train. This is where things get a bit tricky as you have to hit the cone of the train directly, not the side.
Once you land that direct hit, Big Boo splits up into a bunch of little boos and it’s up to you to vacuum their tongues, aim them for the carriages, and fling them into jail! This will take several attempts, and the boos will disappear during this phase and attempt to attack you. Use the dark light to reveal them and fling as many as you can before Big Boo reforms.
There are some things to note:
These phases will repeat until you trap all the mini boos on the train.
You can fit 2 mini boos per carriage. When the carriage is full, the roof will be closed.
You can’t indefinitely hold Big Boo or the Mini Boos in place when you have their tongues. Act fast, don’t let the Poltergust be at max charge for too long!
This is a frustrating fight, missing the train means the first attack phase starts again, don’t be discouraged, there’s no time limit to deal with.
Once you defeat Big Boo, you are on the home stretch. There are some difficult battles up ahead, but you’ve come this far and you can do this. Grab the Dark Moon piece, prepare to pixelate out, and get ready for some tough fights!
