How to Defeat Chunk (Both Grace and Leon) Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem has been a wild ride so far, and now that you’ve escaped the Shadow Ghost, a whole new range of horrors awaits. Chunk is a huge monstrosity that will chase you around the asylum and can really stress you out. Thankfully, this guide will cover how to easily defeat Chunk as both Grace and Leon so you don’t have to worry and can grab some helpful gear too. You don’t have a lot of time, and I need to go buy myself a night light, so we can skip the long-winded intro. Here’s how to beat Chunk as both Grace and Leon.

Grace

When playing as Grace, Chunk will first show up the moment you grab the level 1 ID wristband from a decapitated zombie. From there, he can make navigating the Care Centre a complete nightmare if you don’t deal with him. Thankfully, there’s a really easy way to take him down while conserving your precious supplies. For this strategy, you’ll need three Hemolytic Injectors. Hopefully, you already have some in your inventory, or you can craft them using 60 Blood and 1 piece of Scrap. Scrap can be made by breaking down knives, or found scattered throughout the Care Centre.

The idea is to lead Chunk down the stairs and back to the Treatment room. Stay relatively close so he chases you, and once you’re inside the Treatment room, you can breathe easy because he can’t get in. This is where we “cheese” Chunk. Chunk will eventually realise he can’t reach you and turn around. Sneak behind him, hit him with a Hemolytic Injector, and immediately run back to the safety of the Treatment room. Repeat this process two more times. On the third hit, Chunk will implode and drop a unique Eye Spy Charm. This charm is handy because it increases your chances of surviving fatal damage.

That’s it for Grace, but stay on your guard. There are plenty of other nasties still lurking in the Care Centre.

Leon

Leon is a bit more straightforward since you’re in an attic with limited space to fight. You’ll find Chunk chomping down on a midnight snack, and right in front of him is a shotgun. Grab it, equip it, and start walking back while unloading a few rounds into Chunk. After taking some damage, Chunk will drop down, giving you a chance to deal massive damage. Move forward and press your right trigger to use your axe in a scripted moment. Chunk will sometimes get on all fours and charge you. If he grabs you, use your melee attack to make him drop you and create some distance.

Once you’ve created space, turn and fall back. If you’re out of shells, on lower difficulties, you can tap him with your pistol to knock him down a bit more. On higher difficulties, it might be worth looping back to where you first met Chunk, break the two boxes there to find more shotgun ammo, and use the half ladder to avoid getting cornered.

Repeat this loop: shoot, do the melee attack prompt when possible, and stay on the move. Keep at it, and eventually Chunk will go down. You won’t get as nice a reward this time, just a couple of grenades, which will come in handy for breaking up crowds of zombies.

I hope you get through Chunk smoothly. If this guide helped, feel free to drop a like and leave a comment. And if you enjoy my style of content, hit subscribe so you don’t miss the next boss. See you in the next fight!
