How to Defeat Omega Griever – Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The Omega Griever certainly lives up to its name in the toughest challenge you’ve faced so far. It’s fast, furious, and deadly, and it managed to take me down a few times before I finally bested the beast. Want to take down the Omega Griever? Here’s how…
The Omega Griever is going to start off by skulking along the walls of the cavern, and it features armoured areas on its body that are impervious to damage. While it’s up there, it will shoot you with a green attack that requires you to break out of it. Do your best to dodge these attacks by sidestepping. We are going to need to start hitting it in its arms to help loosen its grip and bring it down to our level. The lock on aim makes this difficult, so I recommend manually pointing and shooting. Once it loses its grip, it will expose a weak spot on its chest, smash it with some attacks and take a step back because it will fall flat on you.
Now we move on to the second phase of the fight. Change into your morph ball and carefully chase the Omega Griever around the room. Do your best to carefully get under its belly and drop some psychic mines to stun it, then, once it’s stunned, lay another set of mines underneath to make it sit up and expose its weak spot. Once it’s stunned, charge up some super rockets to chip away at its health. It may also grab you and try to sap your energy. If it does this, aim at its open mouth and fire away to make it drop you.
The Omega Griever will spit some attacks at you and jump up onto the wall. Use your arm cannon charge to draw in the supplies it leaves when it hits the wall and start the phase again, finish off the grievers it summons while it spits its sap attack at you, and prepare to start the next phase.
It will start to add a beam attack where it shoots a solid beam, which you need to avoid by morph balling underneath it. It’s fairly easy to avoid, but it packs a heap of damage if it hits you.
Each new phase will see a limb grow some additional armour, as well as adding a new slime ball attack when the Omega Griever is on the ground level. Simply repeat your attack pattern to chip away at it to defeat it. It will, in its final phase, lay out a suit upgrade as a trap; you need to try to grab it, which will see the Omega Griever grab you and start sapping your health. Fire all you have right in its face to force it to drop you, and then finish it off.
