How to Escape the Shadow Ghost in the Care Centre in Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem is here, and it brings a host of new scares to keep you on edge. Despite being early in the game, the Shadow Ghost in the Care Centre proves to be a tricky encounter, especially for Grace, who is far more unseasoned than Leon. You do not have much time to figure things out, so I will not waste it with a long introduction. Stick to this guide, and we will make it out alive. Here is how to escape the Shadow Ghost in the Care Centre…
This guide will not cover collectibles or story spoilers. We are only focusing on survival.
First, you will want to leave this room, which we’ll call the Patient’s Room. Keep that in mind. Leave the Patient’s Room and head down the hall, turning toward the red lights. Here, you will be able to flick on some lights and continue down a long corridor with a horse statue all the way to the end. You will reach a locked gate and a small set of drawers. The locked gate is our exit, but it’s currently inactive. Open the small drawer to retrieve the Cherub Key and take a glance at the fuse box next to the gate. We will need another one in order to get out of here.
Head back the way you came and use the Cherub Key on the first door on the left. Let’s call this the Cherub Room. In here, there’s a cupboard with a glass bottle and an open closet in the corner that has a lighter and the fuse we need locked in a fuse box. Grab the lighter, use the typewriter to save, and head out of the room, turning left into the next room. Here, you can read a storybook about the Shadow Ghost if you wish, and the closet in the back of this room tells us exactly what we need and where to find it. You can now head back toward the starting area, and instead of turning left to go to the Patient’s Room, turn right to enter the Reception Area.
Upon entering the Reception Area, pick up the glass bottle in front of you. These can be used to distract the Shadow Ghost when it appears, with varying success. Open the door ahead and prepare for an introduction to the Shadow Ghost, a hulking monstrosity that would love to chop your head off and end your adventure early. After the cutscene plays, sprint to the Patient’s Room. The Shadow Ghost cannot come into the light, and we are going to use this room a lot to keep her at bay. Once the Shadow Ghost retreats into the roof, head back to the Reception Area. We need to find some tools to liberate the fuse.
Head back into the Reception Area and go through the door where you first met the Shadow Ghost. There is a medical injector here and a small trolley we need to move to get the toolbox. Start moving it toward the window and to the right of the room so we can climb on it to retrieve the toolbox. The noise you make will attract the Shadow Ghost, so throw a bottle away from your location if you can to buy some time. Jump up on the cart and grab the toolbox, rotate it to open the latch, and grab the screwdriver.
We need to head back to the Cherub Room, but there is a bit of ducking and weaving to get there. If you have another bottle, try luring the Shadow Ghost out of the way of blocking your path, and sprint back to the Patient’s Room. Once the Shadow Ghost retreats into the roof, head back down toward the hallway. The Shadow Ghost will come through the Reception door, so once again, sprint to the Patient’s Room. Once more, let’s try to get that fuse. The Shadow Ghost will come through the roof of the hallway, and we can either try to loop through the Reception while it gives chase, but the far safer option is, you guessed it, the Patient’s Room.
Finally, you can get to the Cherub Room. Head to the closet in the back corner where you got the lighter, undo the fuse box, retrieve the fuse, and prepare to sprint as the lights are going to go out. Sprint past the horse down to the exit gate. I found letting go or stopping the sprint just shy of the box makes it easier to interact with it. Watch the cutscene, go make yourself a cuppa to calm down, and I will see you at the next boss.
