How to Find Pokemetal in Pokémon Pokopia
Pokemetal is a rare and valuable resource in Pokémon Pokopia, and you’ll need plenty of it in the late game for crafting and upgrades. Fortunately, there’s a spot where you can farm 80+ Pokemetal ores in about 5 minutes without using Dream Islands. Here’s how to find Pokemetal in Pokémon Pokopia and make the most of your farming time.
Meal Prep
Now, since we will be mining Pokemetal ores, you cannot smash them open with your normal Rock Smash ability. I recommend cooking 2 to 4 Hamburgers using a frying pan to supercharge your Rock Smash. Do not eat them right away, save them until it is time to start farming.
Pokemetal Locations
These two Pokemetal locations are in the Sparkling Skylands area of Pokopia.
The first, smaller deposit is located next to the waterfall on the same island as the Pokémon Centre. If you have not busted the stones to create the waterfall yet, it sits right under the inclined road, which is more like a set of steps. Smash through the discoloured rocks to find a small cluster of ore blocks and a Poké Ball item. I am not completely sure if the items are randomised, but I received 5 Pokemetal bars from it. Eat one of your Hamburgers, smash the ores, then head to location number two.
For the next location, glide over to the island behind you where you first met the Tinkermaster. Fly to her tower, then turn left, and you will see another waterfall with a gap you can squeeze or smash through. This is the motherlode! Start smashing the ore deposits and begin stockpiling. I walked away from this area with more than 80 Pokemetal ores, along with around 30 rare Pokemetal ores. Once you have finished mining, all that is left to do is smelt them. Head to wherever you have a Fire Pokémon and a smelting furnace, deposit the ores, and wait for them to process into Pokemetal bars.
Backup Locations
Pokemetal ore can also be found in caves on Dream Islands. I have personally discovered Pokemetal deposits on both Clefairy and Dragonite islands. It is not clear if these are the only islands where it appears, or if it simply comes down to luck when the island generates. Even so, the deposits in Sparkling Skylands will still be your most reliable way to farm large amounts of Pokemetal quickly. You can also occasionally purchase a small number of Pokemetal bars from the Poké Centre PCs, although the stock appears to be limited.
What is Pokemetal Used For?
Pokemetal is used for a major construction project later in the game, but its main purpose is powering the 3D printing machines in your Pokémon Centres. 3D printing allows you to duplicate items using photos, with Pokemetal acting as the material cost for each print. This can be extremely useful if you want extra copies of valuable items without having to hunt them down again. You may also come across Rare Pokemetal, which appears to be a higher-tier version of the material. At the time of writing, I have not discovered a specific use for it yet, but it may be required for more advanced crafting or upgrades later in the game.
