How to Get a Mount in RuneScape Dragonwilds

If you’ve been following our Dragonwilds guides, we should now have a fast travel network starting to take shape, but even with that, you’re still going to spend plenty of time running around Ashenfall. Thankfully, RuneScape Dragonwilds has mounts, which, if you don’t know what you’re looking for, can be surprisingly easy to miss. Thankfully, we’re here to help you get your first mount and save those legs from running all over Ashenfall. Let’s mount up and find out how.

How to Get a Mount in RuneScape Dragonwilds

Getting to Fellhollow

The first thing you’re going to need to do is make your way to Fellhollow, and once you’re here, we’re heading to Bleakfields Valley to find Vannaka and start The Wild Hunt. Finding him is actually pretty straightforward once you know where to look, because if you open up your map, you’ll see a three-pronged fork in the road, and just above that fork, right above the text that says Bleakfields Valley, you’ll find a small structure sitting between the first two paths. That’s Vannaka’s camp, so simply make your way there and speak to him, and he’ll introduce you to The Wild Hunt.

The Wild Hunt

Vannaka wants us to hunt down three Nature Spirits, and while the game does give you some clues about where to look, knowing what you’re looking for makes this easier. There are three locations we’re going to visit, and a really useful clue is that each of these Nature Spirits can be found around a small water source, so when you’re looking at your map, keep an eye out for those little ponds. You’ll also want to look for the willow groves around them, as these are where the Nature Spirits can be found. From the fork in the road near Vannaka, take the path that leads left into Witchwillow Range, and as you enter the area, check your map to make sure you’re heading in the right direction, because the first bird is almost at the southernmost point of the area. Head towards the small water source, and you should find the first Nature Spirit waiting nearby. These are essentially ghostly, glowing Terrorbirds, so they’re pretty easy to spot once you’re in the right area. Slay it, grab your first Primordial Heart, and then we’re moving on to the second location.

For the next Nature Spirit, we’re heading towards Emberwood, and this one can be found towards the back of the area, above the Stonehenge-style location you’ll see marked on your map. Again, use that small body of water as your guide, and once you’re in the right area, you should be able to spot the glowing Nature Spirit nearby. While you’re here, don’t forget to grab the Sanguine Urn nearby if you haven’t already, because these permanently increase your maximum health by 10, and when you’re exploring an area like Fellhollow, that extra health can definitely come in handy. Once you’ve dealt with the second Nature Spirit, we’ve only got one more to find.

For the final one, we’re heading over to Dragon’s Run. This is another one where it’s very easy to get yourself turned around, especially with all of the paths and landmarks in this area, so I’d recommend checking your map frequently rather than just blindly following the road. Make your way towards the small water source and willow grove, find the final Nature Spirit and take it down, and once you’ve collected that third Primordial Heart, we’ve got everything we need. Now all that’s left to do is make our way back to Vannaka in Bleakfields Valley.

Back to Vannaka

Once you’re back at Vannaka, speak to him and hand over the three Primordial Hearts you’ve collected. He’ll perform the ritual and complete The Wild Hunt, and this is where all that running around finally pays off, because completing the quest gives you access to your very own Terrorbird mount. And just like that, you no longer have to rely entirely on your own two feet to get around Ashenfall. To summon your mount, hold X on the Switch 2. On other consoles, the summon prompt should now appear in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Press and hold that button to summon

Using your Terrorbird

Once the quest is complete, you can summon your Terrorbird whenever you need it, making those long journeys between fast travel points, resource locations and quest objectives much faster. There are a few limitations to keep in mind, though, because while the Terrorbird is fantastic for getting around, you can’t fight or gather resources while you’re riding it; taking damage will knock you off your mount, and you can’t use it in Dungeons. But for simply getting from A to B across the overworld, it is a huge improvement, and considering how easy this quest is to overlook, I’d definitely recommend making it a priority once you’ve reached Fellhollow.

That’s all there is to it. Find Vannaka, complete The Wild Hunt, track down the three Nature Spirits around Witchwillow Range, Emberwood and Dragon’s Run, bring those three Primordial Hearts back to Vannaka, and you’ll have your very own Terrorbird ready to carry you across Ashenfall.
