Johnny Silverhand is one of Cyberpunk 2077’s most iconic characters, so it’s no surprise that players want to get their hands on his legendary gear. There’s a side mission that’s easy to miss, but if you follow the right steps, you’ll walk away with some of the coolest rewards in the game: Johnny’s Porsche 911, his signature jacket, and his custom revolver.

The Prerequisites

Before you can unlock the “Chippin’ In” side mission that rewards Johnny’s gear, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

• Complete the main quest “Play It Safe” (the one that takes place during the parade).

• Finish “I Walk the Line”, the Voodoo Boys’ mission that takes you into Act 3.

Once both are done, you’re eligible to unlock the side job Chippin’ In, but there’s one critical warning:

Do not start the main quest Nocturne OP55N1 before completing this. If you do, you’ll permanently miss your chance to unlock Johnny’s gear.

How to Trigger “Chippin’ In”

After finishing the above quests, you’ll wake up in a seedy hotel. Johnny will begin to open up, and your dialogue choices here are critical to unlocking the mission.

When prompted, choose the following:

• “Thanks for helpin’”

• “I’ll, uh, get you back one day”

• “I think I’m dying.”

Climb into the hotel room through the window. Johnny will sit down in front of you and hand over his dog tags as a symbolic gesture of trust. Keep the conversation going:

• When he asks if you’d take a bullet for him, respond “Yes.”

• Then choose “I’d do the same for you.”

• When discussing Hanako’s offer, ask, “You got a better idea?”

• Then: “Is your dying wish revenge?”

• When Johnny suggests working with Rogue, respond, “So I’ll tell Rogue everything?”

• Finally, ask “What’s the plan?” and agree to let him take control.

This will officially trigger the “Chippin’ In” mission.

The Mission: Chippin’ In

Head to the Afterlife bar. Johnny will appear and ask if you’re ready. Take Misty’s pills, and Johnny will take control of your body for a while. During this segment, you’re free to pick any dialogue options as they don’t impact the outcome.

Eventually, you’ll wake up back in the hotel, this time with Rogue watching over you. After some exposition, she’ll tell you to wait 24 in-game hours for her call.

Tip: There’s a known bug here… if Rogue doesn’t call, wait 24 hours, then drive out to the Badlands and back. This usually triggers the call.

Once she contacts you, return to the Afterlife. She’ll ask if you’re ready, say yes and follow her outside and open the boot of her car to receive Johnny’s replica jacket. From there, you’ll drive out to begin the mission. Depending on the in-game time, you may need to wait until nightfall. You can approach the mission however you like. I personally tried stealth and failed miserably, so I ended up with guns blazing. Eventually, you’ll board a ship and fight your way to Grayson, who’s been gravely wounded. When given the option, spare him. He’ll hand you a keycard and tell you about a nearby container with more of Johnny’s gear.

You’ll also receive Johnny’s custom revolver at this point.

Let Rogue walk away, then head to the crane panel and lower the marked container. Inside, waiting just for you, is Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911.

You’re now the proud owner of Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche, his jacket, revolver, and dog tags, a full set of legendary gear. It’s a bittersweet moment that deepens your connection with Johnny and gives you some of the most stylish rewards in the game.
