How to Increase Slowpoke’s Yawn in Pokopia
Hey Ditto! Welcome to Pokopia. You’ve got a big job ahead rebuilding the Pokémon Centre, and the only Pokémon that can help is trapped behind hardened stone. To free Onyx, we need it to rain. Unfortunately, Slowpoke needs more humidity to work its magic, so we’ll need to build that up first. I know you’re in a rush, so we won’t waste time with a long-winded intro… Let’s get to work!
Before we begin, some of these objectives may have already been completed while you were exploring and playing. If they have, they’ll automatically register as complete when you talk to the quest givers, so don’t stress!
How to Start the Quest
If you’ve stumbled upon this guide looking to repair the Pokémon Centre, there are a few steps to get this quest started. First, explore the caves and find the trapped Onyx. Next, you’ll need to build the Seaside Tall Grass Habitat for Slowpoke. Once Slowpoke appears, water the path all the way to the ruined Pokémon Centre and build stairs so it can move comfortably. If Slowpoke stops walking, check the path to make sure it’s properly watered, then talk to Slowpoke to get it moving again.
Increasing Humidity
Once Slowpoke reaches the Pokémon Centre, you’ll see that it needs the area to be more humid to get its Yawn power to 100. We’ll achieve this by fulfilling a few requests and manually watering the area to raise the Yawn level. Once it gets close to 80, a final Rain Dance quest will unlock.
Bulbasaur’s First Request
Bulbasaur will ask you to create a Field of Flowers Habitat. Simply place two rows of four flowers to complete the habitat. This will make a Vespiquen appear, and you can trade three jars of honey for some cool items. Don’t forget to talk to Bulbasaur to finish the quest!
Slowpoke’s First Request
Slowpoke will now have a speech bubble. Head back to the ruined Pokémon Centre and see what it needs. Slowpoke will ask you to unblock some nearby water springs. You may have already done this in a few areas, but if not, look for glowing blocks with water splashes behind them and destroy them to unblock the springs.
The spring at the back flows down to a Horsea fountain. Remove all blockages so the water can flow freely, then speak to Slowpoke. This will complete its first quest, and you can instantly tick off its second quest regarding the Horsea fountain.
Bulbasaur’s Second Request
Bulbasaur will want to talk to you again. This time, it will ask you to water dead trees to make them bloom again. Use Water Gun on the dead trees, then talk to Bulbasaur to complete the task.
Squirtle’s First Request
Squirtle will now need your help to create a Hydrated Grass Habitat. Place four grass patches next to a water source to complete this task. Talk to Squirtle to submit the quest.
Squirtle’s Second Request
Squirtle might give you another task right away. If not, try watering more grass, planting trees, and watering dead trees. Eventually, Squirtle will ask you to move to the Hydrated Grass Habitat you just created.
To do this, ask Squirtle to follow you to the new habitat, talk to it, and confirm that it wants to move there. Once moved, Squirtle will complete the quest.
Rain Dance Quest
Check Slowpoke’s Yawn level. This should trigger a new quest with Squirtle, who will now host a Rain Dance. You’ll need Professor Tangrowth’s help to create a Rain Dance site. Gather a plate, a berry, and two charms (these charms are in the wheelbarrow where you first met Professor Tangrowth).
Build the site, but make sure the charms are placed on a wall, using dirt or another wall surface if needed. Once complete, return to Professor Tangrowth and watch Squirtle perform the Rain Dance. Finally, head back to Slowpoke, whose Yawn should now reach 100!

From this point on, the guide will include story spoilers. If you want to avoid spoilers, feel free to stop here and come back after completing the next objective.
Meet Legendary Pokémon Kyogre, and Rescue Onyx
After the rain stops, you’ll hear a loud noise. Rush down to the seaside where you built the Slowpoke habitat to find the legendary Pokémon Kyogre! To talk to it, you’ll need to repair the jetty. Use the craft bench nearby to create some jetty planks, then build away. Kyogre will praise your bravery and make it rain, restoring the withered wasteland to greener pastures. Now we can finally rescue Onyx!
Head back to the cave where Onyx is trapped and use Rock Smash to break the rocks. Onyx will thank you for freeing it.
Here’s where players often get tripped up: head back to Professor Tangrowth to turn in the quest, then return to Onyx in the cave. If you haven’t smashed all the rocks, Onyx won’t be able to follow you, so make sure the path is fully cleared. Once the path is clear, ask Onyx to follow you back to the ruined Pokémon Centre. You’ll receive a recipe for an Onyx habitat and can begin construction on the new Pokémon Centre!
