How to Start the Pokémon Pokopia Bubbly Basin DLC
Pokopia’s first DLC is here in the form of Bubbly Basin, introducing an entirely new underwater town for Ditto to rebuild and explore. There’s a lot to discover beneath the waves, from new Pokémon to new decorations and areas to customise, but getting there might not be immediately clear. If you’re ready to dive into the new adventure, here’s everything you need to know about how to start the Bubbly Basin DLC in Pokopia.
Before you can access the Bubbly Basin DLC, there are a few prerequisites you’ll need to complete. First, you’ll need to have purchased the Bubbly Basin DLC and updated Pokopia to the latest version. In-game, you’ll need to have unlocked Bleak Beach and completed the “Raise the Environment Level!” quest there. You’ll also need to have unlocked the Dive ability, as this is required to reach the underwater entrance to Bubbly Basin. It’s also worth noting that you don’t need to have completed the main story before starting the DLC. As long as you’ve reached Bleak Beach and unlocked the required abilities, you’ll be able to begin your underwater adventure.
Immediately after learning the Dive ability, you can head back to the Bleak Beach Pokémon Centre to find a Popplio waiting for you. After adding Popplio to your Pokédex, it will tell you about its underwater town and explain that, while it isn’t too far away, the strong current makes it impossible to reach by swimming. Instead, Popplio and Professor Tangrowth will ask you to search for a mysterious gate that leads to the underwater town.
The gate can be found at sea from the direction of the Pokémon Centre. Use Surf to head away from the beach until you spot rocky outcrops beneath the water. Use Dive to sink down and look for the opening where the underwater gate is located. When you find the gate, Popplio will ask if you know how to open it. Simply press A to use your Pokédex and unlock the entrance. Once the gate opens, you can head straight into Bubbly Basin.
After arriving, you’ll receive your introduction to the new area, find a Pokémon Centre, and begin rebuilding the underwater town. Enjoy the new DLC, and if you get stuck, check back soon for more Pokopia guides!
