Is this the most deceptive title on the E-shop?
Lost Forest is a game I have been so excited about since I saw an early preview on a Press site where you can get info about upcoming games. Today, I purchased and downloaded Lost Forest, after viewing the beautiful trailer on the Eshop. I made a coffee, put on my headphones, and was so shocked at what loaded on my Switch.
I wasn’t presented with a relaxing stroll through the forest but a foggy, hellish landscape where you can walk through trees, stutter your way into locations, and generally regret spending money on the game. Now, I’m definitely not one to drag a developer, and I absolutely detest review bombing and people harassing teams behind games, but I did feel I had to share this information as a very resounding “Buyer Beware.”
It would seem, that Lost Forest on Switch is being marketed as a very different product on the E-shop. The screenshots and trailers are most likely from the gorgeous-looking PC version, and while I understand some sacrifices need to be made, as you can see from the promotional material taken directly off the E-shop, this is a completely different-looking game. When you market a product like this, unfortunately, it’s just downright deceptive.
Couple this with the Eshop being flooded with 100 different editions of games that are targeted at a lower price point for your hard-earned cash, it’s becoming more difficult to deal with what is the real deal. So let me know, have you been deceived by a product that ended up being completely different? Fire off in the comments below!
