After years of rumours and wish lists, LEGO has officially revealed its long-awaited Pokémon sets, with shipping confirmed to begin at the end of February.
Leading the lineup is a large-scale LEGO Pikachu build, made up of roughly 2,000 pieces. The set includes a display stand, a Poké Ball, and a dynamic pose that shows Pikachu leaping into action. It looks fantastic on display, but it comes with a premium price tag of $300.
For collectors with deeper pockets, LEGO is also releasing a massive Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise diorama. Clocking in at nearly 7,000 pieces, this set recreates the iconic trio in a shared scene and will cost a hefty $1,000.
Trainers who pre-order the Kanto starter diorama may also be eligible to receive a Kanto Region badge collection, featuring the iconic Gym Badges from across the original Pokémon League. It is a nice bonus for collectors, and one that adds a little extra appeal to LEGO’s most ambitious Pokémon set.
On the more affordable end of the spectrum is Eevee. This standalone Pokémon build comes in at just under 600 pieces and is priced at $100, making it the most accessible option for fans looking to add a Pokémon set to their shelf.
There is no denying these sets look impressive, especially as display pieces. Unfortunately, the pricing is likely to keep many LEGO trainers on the sidelines.
