Nintendo Switch 2 Price Increase Announced for Australia
Nintendo has announced a global price increase on Switch 2 hardware, with Australia and New Zealand both affected from September 2026.
The change comes as part of broader adjustments across the gaming industry, with ongoing shifts in manufacturing costs, supply chain pressures, and wider economic conditions continuing to influence hardware pricing. While demand for the Switch 2 remains strong, these factors are expected to persist in the medium to long term.
There has been an official statement from Nintendo Australia:
“Beginning on 1st September 2026, Nintendo Australia will revise the SRP of the Nintendo Switch 2 console in Australia from AU$699.95 to AU$769.95, and in New Zealand from NZ$799.95 to NZ$969.95. This is in response to various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term. Pricing for the Nintendo Switch console is not changing.

What does this mean for players? The Switch 2 will increase by $70, moving it to $769.95 AUD from September 1, 2026. New Zealand sees a significantly larger adjustment. If you were already considering picking up a Switch 2, especially ahead of the holiday season, purchasing before September 1 may be the more cost-effective option. After that date, the new pricing will take effect across retailers.
