Nullstar: Solus Launches April 16 on Switch and Consoles

Hobart-based developer Smash Attack Aus, alongside USA publishing platform indie.io, has announced that their upcoming sci-fi drone 2D platformer Nullstar: Solus will launch on PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on April 16, 2026.

Nullstar: Solus is a precision platformer where speed is everything. Players control a drone racing through forgotten, overgrown chambers and corridors, navigating ancient dangers and long-abandoned hazards in pursuit of the most powerful energy source in existence.

The game features 80 bite-sized levels, each designed to challenge players to carefully guide their drone through both mechanical and organic threats. The result is a tense, rewarding experience that encourages that familiar “just one more try” mindset.

Designed for players of all ages and skill levels, Nullstar: Solus is easy to pick up but challenging to master. Each level allows freedom in how you approach it, while the thruster system rewards skilled play with faster completion times. For those seeking an extra challenge, a darker and more difficult set of levels awaits deeper in the game.

“When we started Nullstar in mid-2024, it was a way for me to claw back some personal goals in game development,” said Smash Attack Aus team member Dean Baron. “I didn’t expect it to become this amazing journey where I was joined by incredible developers from all over the world. Nullstar is a love letter to games from all of us who worked on it, and we are excited that it is now ready to be shared with the world. Remember pilots. Be. Faster.”

Nullstar: Solus launches on PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on April 16, 2026, priced at US$9.99. More updates will be shared in the lead-up to launch via Smash Attack Aus’ Bluesky account and Discord.

The Aussie indie scene continues to go from strength to strength, and Nullstar: Solus is shaping up to be another exciting release. I can’t wait to jump in and see how it plays.
