The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered Comes to Switch 2 on September 29

One of the most definitive RPGs of the modern era is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches on September 29, 2026. I have sunk a lot of hours into The Witcher 3 over the years, including on the original Nintendo Switch port, so seeing a native Switch 2 version of the game is really exciting. The Remastered version brings a range of visual, performance and gameplay improvements, and for digital owners of The Witcher 3, the Remastered version will be available as a free upgrade. I haven’t received information regarding physical owners at this stage.
For Switch 2 players, this is a native version of The Witcher 3 rather than simply playing the original Switch release, with the Remastered edition bringing a number of improvements to the experience. These include upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new effects for Witcher Signs, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviours and a revamped skill tree. There are also some nice additions outside of the core gameplay, including transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishers. If you’ve somehow managed to avoid The Witcher 3 until now, the game includes its enormous main adventure alongside the acclaimed Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, with both expansions available to all owners at no additional cost.
A New Adventure Is Also Coming
CD PROJEKT RED has also shown off the first look at Songs of the Past, a new paid expansion coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The expansion introduces the brand-new region of Letten, an idyllic land filled with rural traditions, folklore, harvests and lavish festivals. Of course, this is The Witcher, so things aren’t quite as peaceful as they first appear. A dark secret is hiding beneath the surface, with Geralt facing never-before-seen foes and a long-dormant evil.
Songs of the Past is already available to wishlist ahead of its 2027 release.
For Switch 2 owners, then, September 29 looks like a pretty good excuse to return to one of the best RPGs of the modern era — especially for those of us who have already spent countless hours wandering through Geralt’s world on the original Switch.
