Indie developer Patattie Games and publisher Curve Games have announced that Wax Heads, the cozy-punk narrative sim about running a struggling record shop, will launch on May 5, 2026. The game will be available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

In Wax Heads, players take on the role of the newest employee at Repeater Records, a legendary record shop known for always recommending the right vinyl to the right customer. As the shop fights to survive in a changing world, players will chat with quirky customers to thoughtfully match them with the perfect LP. Alternatively, they can choose to slack off with co-workers.

Ahead of launch, Wax Heads will feature a playable demo during February’s Steam Next Fest, which runs from February 23 to March 3. The demo offers players an early opportunity to step behind the counter at Repeater Records.

Blending puzzle design with visual storytelling, Wax Heads explores music culture through conversational and social cues. The game includes over 80 in-game records to discover, more than 60 hand-drawn characters to meet, and 30+ original songs performed by the developers, their family, and close friends.

Murray Somerwolff, Creative Director at Patattie Games, shared the following statement:

“With Wax Heads, we’re bringing back the magic of human connection in music. We want to celebrate and reignite the passion that is discovering music in a physical space. To recapture the joy of rummaging through albums, to find something to hold in your hand, a song to lose yourself in, an album to cry to, a new band to call your own.”
