EB Games Mid-Year Sale Will Add to Your Pile of Shame

Share:

The only thing better than video games is video games on sale, and it just so happens that the EB Games Mid-Year Sale has plenty of Switch games on offer. A lifetime ago, I worked for EB Games, and the mid-year sale used to be a sea of red plastic and red diamond stickers that pushed the limits of what Centre Management would allow us to get away with, coupled with every third comedian popping their head into the store with a grin on their face saying “Are you having a sale?” thinking they had hit the comedic heights of their career. These days, the sale setups seem to be a bit more tame, much to the relief of exhausted store managers everywhere, and as I visited the new EB Store in town today, I noticed some incredible bargains that rivaled even the most generous E-shop discounts. What’s the sale like? Load up your Zip, log in to Afterpay, and don’t tell my wife I’ve been shopping as we check out some deals in the EB Games Mid-Year Sale.

I also want to add that I am in no way affiliated with EB Games, and the links in this article are just normal product links and not affiliate links. I do not receive any kickbacks and have no association with EB Games… I simply love a bargain! (Also all prices are in Dollarydoos.

Front Mission 1st Limited Edition – $28

Front Mission 1st – Limited Edition – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

Did someone say Tactical Mech action? Where do I sign up? Front Mission 1st is a remake of a Playstation 1 game that features a new graphics engine and classic Mech strategy action. It’s received a lot of post-launch updates to smooth the experience out and it’s an enjoyable action romp for fans of Mech fighting action. It also features a graphics switch so you can play the game as it was back in the day. Classic.

No Man’s Sky – $40

No Man’s Sky – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

Honestly, if you own a Switch and don’t own No Man’s Sky yet, there’s never been a better time to buy it. Since launching on Switch it’s had 2 major performance updates as well as a plethora of free content update to further enhance the game. You can be a space pirate, build bases, fight for good, or even explore at your own pace. Whatever you do in No Man’s Sky, you will certainly be in for an epic adventure that will last you several… hundred… hours…

Two Point Campus Enrollment Edition – $15

Two Point Campus: Enrolment Edition – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

A homage to the classic Bullfrog “Theme Hospital” and “Theme Park” days, Two Point Campus sees you build a profitable campus in order to educate the denizens of the world. Two Point Campus manages to skirt serious management sim mechanics, all while keeping it light-hearted and enjoyable.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – $57

Kingdom Come Deliverance: Royal Edition – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

A superbly written Medieval adventure loosely based on actual historical events. Step into the peasant shoes of Henry, who must make his way through the world as a knight, starting from clumsily swinging his sword and hoping for the best, to fighting for his lords and his honor. It’s an expertly written story and slow-burn gameplay rewards the patient gamer with an epic tale of political intrigue, love, loss, and hopefully overcoming all odds.

Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition – $28

Borderlands 3: Ultimate Edition – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

Balls-to-the-wall action awaits in this hilarious sci-fi adventure. It’s crass, over the top, and a heck of a lot of fun and you fight your way through several planets of bad guys, collecting (in the developer’s own words) a bazillion guns. The Switch port didn’t launch to much fanfare due to an almost silent marketing campaign, and a gameplay trailer was only released on the day of launch, but this intrepid critic traveled 4 hours through the Australian Wilderness to secure a copy to find it’s an exceptionally done port that was only let down by the hefty price tag. Now it’s only $28, there are no objections to overcome, so snag a copy as soon as you can!

Paleo Pines  – $36

Paleo Pines – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

Dinosaurs and Harvest Moon’s love child. A great cozy game for dino enthusiasts and farmers alike. Palio Pines is a well-polished adventure with plenty of gameplay mechanics to keep you invested. The best part? It features my favorite Dinosaur, the Ankylosaurus as a bulldozer-like farm helper. If you like cozy games and missed PalioPines on release, you can’t go wrong picking it up now.

Hogwarts Legacy – $57

Hogwarts Legacy – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

I wasn’t a Harry Potter fan in the slightest when Hogwarts Legacy arrived on Switch. After playing it for review, I’m convinced that the devs conjured actual magic to get a game of this scope and scale working as well as it does on the Nintendo Switch. Despite my best intentions, I was drawn into the world of Hogwarts Legacy and it really is magic. It’s a well-written and grand adventure full of wonder and excitement with the world teeming with things to do and secrets to uncover.

Farming Simulator 23 – $47

Farming Simulator 23: Nintendo Switch Edition – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

It ain’t much, but it’s honest work. This is the game that effectively kickstarted this channel and I remember it coming out the day after my birthday and I sunk into the couch and farmed away. As it stands, I have over 300 hours of gameplay clocked up on Farming Simulator 23. You can expand from a humble farm to an agricultural empire, growing crops and managing production to maximise profits. It’s almost a cozy business management game, and it’s well worth the price of entry!

Mario and Rabbids Sparks of Hope – $28

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

the second in the excellent X-com style Mario tactical series. Sparks of Hope improves on the first in every way, with humourous Rabbids clashing with classic Nintendo characters in a bright and wonderful world. There’s been a few DLC Packs which even feature Rayman (we miss you!) and King Bob-omb from Super Mario 64. The fantastic gameplay is complemented by an amazing score that features legendary video games composer, Grant Kirkhope.

Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game – $47

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game – Nintendo Switch – EB Games Australia

I’m new to the Spintyres series, and Expeditions is a great entry point for 4WD enthusiasts looking to tear up the landscape in this adventure game. It plays like a souls-like car driving game, meaning you have to carefully plan your expedition, managing supplies and vehicle damage as you navigate some hectic terrain. You will winch, crawl, and climb through hostile terrain, pulling out other adventurers, setting up base camps, and resupplying research outposts. Expeditions is an amazing game that’s sure to provide hours of entertainment for the patient adventure enthusiast.

Well, those are my picks for Switch from the EB Games Mid Year sale, is there anything you’re hoping to pick up? I personally think Borderlands 3 is an absolute steal at $28 AUD. Whatever you decide to pick, I hope you enjoy your gaming purchase! Happy gaming!
